Between identity and everyday life: Religiosity in Croatian society from the European comparative perspective
The second chapter entitled Between the identity and everyday life, the religiosity in the Croatian society is analysed in the comparative European perspective. The starting point is modernisation, secularisation and individualisation as key processes of contemporary societies and their influence on the religiosity of people. The results of the research on religiosity and church attendance are interpreted, as well as their roles in Croatia. The authors warn about the existing ambivalence. On one hand, unlike citizens of some European countries, the Croatian citizens express a high share of religious affiliation. On the other hand, the influence of religion and the church dimension on everyday behaviour of people is not significant.
