Sažetak
Chapter entitled Marriage – the institution that is expected from, and which is not invested in emphasises the growing insecurity of marriage and family in modern society. However, based on the values important for marriage, marriage is still a highly valued social institution, in Croatia and Europe alike, and it is not an obsolete institution in most of the analysed thirty-three countries. The expectations in regards of contemporary marriage are high and fail to be realised. The authors point out that society should invest far more in the basic values of marriage and family. There are different manners of investing.
