The Use of Different Water Rates in the Colorado Potato Beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata Say.)
Potato is the third most important crop in Croatia. The main pests of potato in Croatia are insect Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsa decemlineata) and fungi Potato late blight (Phytophtora infestants). For control of CPB in Croatia are registered various insecticides. CPB could cause economically important damages if the 20% of potato leaves are destroyed. Precise timing of control measures is very important. The delay of control by only 10 days reduces the yield for 20-30%. The control of CPB in Croatia is usually done by spraying during June which in Croatia is one of the most humid months in the year. After hard rains it is impossible to enter the field with a tractor mounted sprayer for CPB control. In this situation the use of knapsack mistblower could be very useful. In the paper are presented results that proved it is possible to achieve the equivalent efficacy in CPB control with knapsack mistflower as with a tractor-mounted sprayer.
