Family trauma and family functioning under war conditions - Refuge on the Island of Hvar
The island of Hvar has been one of the places of settlement from 1991-1995 for a number of displaced persons (DPs) from Croatia and refugees (REFs) from Bosnia and Herzegovina during the War. Studying DPs and REFs family trauma and family functioning requires an understanding of the previous organisation of family life, traumatic war-experiences and looses, current organization of their daily-life, and a comprehension of protective and unfavourable influences of the environment of the island on DPs and REFs. Understanding the factors involved in family functioning could be useful in planning psycho-social assistance and making rational plan policies towards the future organisation of their life in exile or within repatrion.
