On optimal placement of telecommunication equipment
In this paper we have presented a problem for optimal placement of telecommunication equipment. Problem is represented as integer linear program. In order to relax the original problem, Lagrange relaxation technique is used. Two different algorithms based on Lagrange relaxation are presented. Numerical results showed that Lagrange relaxation technique is superior over other methods (greedy and neighborhood search). Important feature of Lagrange relaxation technique is that it gives information on solution quality, meaning that in every moment we know how far from the optimality is current solution. At the end of the paper we have presented real network example and showed that described algorithms are applicable in real case scenarios.
