Predicting Gene Ontology Categories from Heterogeneous Genomic Data

Many sequenced genes remain poorly characterized. We utilized an SVM classifier to attempt to recognize Gene Ontology categories for annotated yeast and S. oneidensis genes. Input data for building classifiers consisted of (i) microarray experiments, (ii) codon / amino acid composition and (iii) data gathered by viewing the sequence as a series of amino acid indices and applying time series analysis methods (RQA).
