Treatment of Reactive Dyes and Printing Inks Production Wastewater
Reactive dyes represent a relatively large group of organic chemicals with increasing production. These dyes, in general, dissolve easily in water and therefore production of wastewater become supstantial and environmental problem. Environmental pressure on printing ink industry as well, results on investigation and production of water-based printing inks and also concerning with wastewater teatments. After the printing ink production, cleaning the machines and obtained coloured wastewater become a problem of increasing importance. The production of monochlorotriazine reactive dye was studied using the C.I.Reactive Blue 5 model. Process improvement was done in order to increase yield i.e. decrease water pollution.Dye concentration in wastewater from synthesis was determined. The wastewater from printing ink production was obtained directly from industry. Each type of wastewater represented an individual problem. In our work, the main characteristics of coagulation/flocculation process with different reagents in order to remove reactive dyes and printing inks from the wastewater were studied. Fe(III) and Al(III) salts and different polymeric flocculants were used. The chemical process parameters were optimized in a batch coagualation tank.
