Influence of Creativity on the Quality of Final Human Performance

There have been many different considerations of the relationship between the quality of work and creativity. At the first glance, the most logical and most acceptable opinion, according to which creativity directly influences the quality of final human performance because creative persons create better. One of the consequences of this assumption is the expectation that creative people will also realize the required quality. It is therefore necessary to encourage and support creative workers with the aim to reach the desired quality level. However, this, at the first glance quite acceptable assumption, loses its strength the moment we start comparing the very dynamic, changeable and untamable phenomenon of creativity with a relatively strictly determined feature such as the quality of any final human performance (of products, services or anything else). There are different levels of quality evaluation – from very poor and poor, over good and better, to the best quality. One can equally discuss the criteria for the evaluation of quality and the individuals who make value judgments. A very strictly defined concept of the specified quality can block the creative spirit. In this connection, it is possible to limit the expression of diversity in the work as an important characteristic of creativity. A high degree of creativity often won’ t be satisfied with the final human performance that has been declared the best. It will aspire to something else which will again be better or worse according to various other criteria. In the consideration of the relation between quality and creativity, one must not forget the importance of knowledge because quality can be achieved through knowledge which, frequently, opposes creativity. Resulting from all said above, the following motto suggests itself: "Let those who have the knowledge create quality, and let the creative prescribe the criteria for it!"
