Experimental and numerical analysis of the rail fastening spring clips types SKL-1 and SKL-12
Modern rail transport with heavy loads and vehicle speeds needs introduction of adequate fastening of the rail to the base. On the most tracks where the driving speeds exceed 100 km/h, the railways companies used elastic fastening systems for fasten rails to the base, especially if the tracks are installed on the concrete base. This type of tracks we usually called ballastless tracks or slab tracks. With the load and increase of speed there is raise in dynamic influences and the rail bending moments. With such increased stresses in rails, elastic force of the rail fastening plays the most important role. It ensures elastic acceptance of the rail during its vertical movement, absorbs the vibrations, and at the same time ensures high resilience against longitudinal movements and lateral inclination of rails. From the above stated the most important requirement for the spring clip is to be in constant contact with the rail, during all conditions which might occur in the operation. Under conditions of high driving speeds and heavy traffic volumes, the maintenance costs for tracks are high and the elastic fastening of the rail has shown as suitable and economic. In combination with an elastomer insert below the rail foot, so called double elastic fastening is achieved. Elastic clip holds the rail foot from the upper side and resists the tendency to lift the rail (i.e. it is always adhering to the rail). This way the connection between the rail foot and the base is not lost, the rail does not hit the base and the connection is not lessened.
