The Analysis of Croatian Export Functions: Evidence Based on Exchange Rate Volatility
The aim of this paper is to analyse the relationship between Croatian export volume and its determinants, domestic income and real exchange rate volatility using techniques of cointegration analysis and error correction modelling. In that context we will analyse the long-run and short-run relationship between export and other related variables. Theory does not give us a simple and direct answer about the effect of exchange rate variability on trade. All analyses focus on producer theory under uncertainty, with exchange rate changes representing the only source of risk to the firm. The focus of traditional models was on risk aversion. Another approach is to focus on the effect of exchange rate variability on expected profits. In that sense, on the basis of a defined econometric model, the role of exchange rate and its effect on the volume of export will be analysed.
