Average Temperature on Contact Tool-Workpiece by Milling

The heat generating along the contact of milling cutter and workpiece has an influence on milling process. Average temperature on contact is influenced with material of workpiece and with cutting conditions. There are a lot of influencing parameters wich increase this temperature. The most significant influence arise from angle of milling edge and cutting speed. Test are conducted with HSS milling cutter on heat treated alloyed steel Č7432 both on up-cut and down-cut milling. Results of testing the influence of lip angle and other parameters on average temperature on milling cutter-workpiece contact are shown in this paper.
