Development of the biotechnology engineeres title in the past 45 years - Croatian experience
The Study of Biotechnology was established in 1956 at the Faculty of Technology, Zagreb, Croatia. The engineers obtained diplomas containing the title "Engineer" with the name of the study mentioned (1961). The independent Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology was established in 1980, providing diplomas of "Engineer of Food Technology" mentioning Faculty Division. The state of facts remained until 1996, when the diplomas were issued as "Engineer of Biotechnology" and "Engineer of Food Technology". According to the new Croatian Act and the implementation of the Bologna Process in Croatia, instead of the title "engineer" we have Master's degree in various fields. Is it possible to substitute the title "engineer" with any other appropriate title?
