Current status of humanitarian demining normisation
From diverse aspects the humanitarian demining has been characterised as a rather inefficient process. As it is the only process transforming mine affected regions into regions safe for population, that characterisations motivated R&D aiming to rise the humanitarian demining efficiency. It is of extreme importance to assure high quality personnel, with regard to methods and technologies in applications, in which human factor has a considerable influence. At the same time, the methods and technologies are – with exception of machine demining – dependent on subjective element. The important aspect to be improved is to make uniform the level of knowledge and skills which different personnel for humanitarian demining needs and has. The standardization is recognised as a crucial step toward such an establishment of a level structure. In the paper we recommend education mode consisting of three levels following fundamental structure documented in EN 473 for training of personnel in NDT. The fundamental structure is accompanied with the knowledge and skills, needed to conduct humanitarian demining with the existing demining technology and with the minimal dependence on subjectivity.
