The Exclusive Economic Zone and Other International Legal Regimes at Sea
The broad title of this paper does not correspond to its limited scope. The paper does not deal with the general position of the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the framework of the new international legal order of the oceans, but only with the attitude of the Mediterranean States towards this specific legal regime. The scope of this text has been determined by the general topic of this round table, which deals with the present situation in the Mediterranean, marked by the intentions of the European Union, its Member States and Croatia, to undertake various measures in order to protect the marine environment of the Mediterranean and its living resources. Moreover, the author of the present contribution had to avoid dealing with the issues he presumed would be treated by the other participants in the round table.
exclusive economic zone; Mediterranean; United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea; law of the sea; public international law
