Micelles to Vesicles Transformationa of Decanoates Studied by Spin-labelling Method
Aqueous mixtures of decanoic acid / Na-decanoate exhibit complex aggregation behaviour, i.e. different phases are present in water at room temperature depending on conditions in solution, i.e. pH, ionic composition and concentration. In order to test dynamic properties of the micelles-vesicles coexistence in our system three structurally different spin labels were studied (decanoic acid (1), dodecanoic acid (2) and methyl ester(3) of dodecanoic acid) by EPR spectroscopy. 1)Decanoic acid with doxyl moiety: HFASL(2.5), m=2, n=5 2) Dodecanoic acid with doxyl moiety: HFASL(4, 5) m=4, n=5 3)Methyl-ester of dodecanoic acid with doxyl moiety, MeFASL(4, 5), m=4, n=5 From the line shapes of the EPR of the spin labels properties of the micelles to vesicles transformation were detected.
