Material resistance to tribocorrosion during extraction of sugar from sugar beet

Testing of material wear resistance of protective layers and base material exposed to solution of water and H2SO4 in process of sugar extraction from sugar beet was conducted, after previous recording of state of material on components of diffuser and worm gears used in sugar extraction process and mostly exposed to trybo-corrosive wear. Own alternative materials were selected and tested in a manufactured laboratory simulator under simulated operation conditions. On the basis of mass loss control and metallographic examination an assessment of trybocorrosive resistance of materials was performed, and it was established that Č4580, then Č4571 display the biggest wear resistance, while boronized layer on Č4171 shows the fastest material wear properties.
