The Influence of Engine Equipment and its Control to the NOx Emissions

The paper presents the influence of the engine equipment for the air and fuel supply to the engine properties and emissions regarding the NOx formation. It has been analysed the influence of the turbocharger, the inlet channel geometry and its swirl generation. Further the influence of fuel injection equipment was analysed for various plunger diameters and injector types. For numerical simulations of NOx formation it was used the phenomenological model using two-zone description of the combustion space. Experimentaly derived heat release rate on water cooled diesel engine was used as input data for simulation model. Few selected samples are presented in the paper.
