Dynamic Analysis of Machine and Worpiece Instability in Turning
Dynamic parameters in particular, the machining state monitoring and diagnosis during the cutting operation, which are indispensable to the stability and the automation of manufacturing process as well as the high accuracy of machining, has become increasingly important. Dynamic features (e.g. mass, stiffness and damping) of machine and workpiece in turning alter during cutting and can affect stability of machining process. A kind of self-exited vibration, which is occurred during machining an machine tools, is called chatter. Machining with chatter is an undesirable phenomenon, because it causes the surface of the workpiece to be damaged. Besides, tool breakage and the amortization of other machine parts are the results of this phenomenon. As an example, a system of turning machine and one turning workpiece is analyzed using method of identification and dynamic features of machining system. On the basis of collected data stability of machining process is shown.
