The effect of light intensity on the chloroplasts of tomato aurea mutant
In the aurea mutant, the effect of phytochrome deficiency on chloroplast development led to photodestructive processes in intense illumination. However, the mutant managed to adapt iots phenotype to weak illumination. We belive that shade adaptation of the tomato plant could include activation of specific mechanisms that are, in part, independent of phytochrome action of efficiently compensate for its activity.
