Reading in general and reading in English with seventh-graders
The thesis presents the results of a survey conducted at two urban schools (in Zagreb). The sample was representative of Croatian urban seventh-graders. It consisted of 112 participants. They were given questionnaires testing their reading habits, motivation and interests in reading in Croatian as their mother tongue, and in English as a foreign language. The results show that reading habits of the aimed population are generally poor, both in Croatian and in English. On the contrary, their interest in reading seems to be high.
