A Micropolitical View on Quality Assurance at Croatian Universities
The purpose of the paper is to analyse existing quality assurance practice in Croatian universities using the micropolitical approach, with the special emphasize given on the quality of university teaching. Three immanent parts of the quality assurance process will be considered: identification of teaching quality criteria, assessment of teaching quality and improvement of teaching quality. It is assumed that different groups of people involved in the process understand the purpose of quality assurance and their own roles and responsibilities in the process differently (egz. students, teachers, institutional leaders, external examiners, education developers, employers… ). The analysis will provide a framework for understanding different interest groups concerning their involvement in quality processes, activities and strategies used to influence on decisions about quality processes and interactions between these groups in the same process. Understanding micropolitics in quality assurance processes will provide a background for neccesary/possible adjustments and improvements of existing quality processes.
