3D Complex Blank Gear Models
The paper deals with the determination of spur tooth stress field of a thin-rimmed gear with complex blank. For the cases of mid web and offset web position, partial pinion-wheel gear models with different boundary conditions related to the constraint of the rim, web and hub, are compared with the pinion-wheel gear model of wheel shaped as a ring with several teeth above. The subject of comparison is maximum tooth-root stress and the stress distribution along the facewidth at the tooth cross-section corresponding to the 30° tangent of the fillet. The choice of simple and effective 3D FEM model of spur gear with complex teeth support, has significance for the improvements that can be achieved by the gear blank design, and due to the fact that the strength estimation of these gears is not adequately covered by the standards.
