New discovered dinosaur tracks in the Upper Albian of Istria, Croatia
The Late Albian in Istria is the period that bears the most abundant record of the dinosaur presence on the Adriatic-Dinaric carbonate platform. There are nearly a dozen sites with the dinosaur footprints which were found in the sediments that crop out along the shore in the Upper Albian sediments of the so-called West Istrian anticline. These sediments belong to the 3rd Istrian megasequnce (Upper Albian – Upper Santonian). The most numerous localities are situated near the town of Červar and on the Brijuni islands. The new site was discovered near the city of Pula, at the Zlatne Stijene locality. The outcrop is situated at the sea shore and during the stormy weather it is in direct contact with the sea water.
