Microbiological condition of some cereals after process of micronisation
Grain maize and barley were examined microbiologically before and after micronization. Also examined was the effect of heat treatment of maize and barley on microbial contamination of the diet, containing both feeds, designed for feeding pigs. The micronization process significantly increased the hygienic quality of the cereals, as indicated by the reduction in the microbial count. Considering that heat treatment changes the structure of nutrients, the process of micronization represents a very reliable way of improving nutrient availability and hygienic quality of feeds.
