Angiogenesis in human fetal ovary

The aim of our study was to investigate the development of blood vessels in the human fetal and neonatal ovaries by applying morphological and morphometric (stereology) methods.The ovarian volume increased from 80 mm3 at the 16 th week of gestation to 657 mm3 at the end of gestation and to 832 mm3at the end of the 2nd postnatal month.The total length of ovarian blood vessels gradually increased from 11m to144mat the 3oth week of gestation and decreased to 133m in the 2nd postnatal month.
