Calculation of Magnetic Noise of Induction Motors Using Vibration Measurements

This paper presents an experimental study on magnetic noise of induction motors. The measured vibration data were used as the basis for the calculation of the free-field acoustic sound pressure level caused by magnetic forces. A correlation was achieved between theoretically predicted and sound pressure levels measured in an anechoic chamber. The proposed method enables estimation of the free-field noise level of the induction motors in-situ during its actual operation.
