The maximization of sales in the meat packaging plant

This paper presents a research study with regard to the optimisation of the sales in the meat packaging plant using a linear programming model. Focussing on product specialisation of plant (production of kebabs, hamburgers steaks, hamburgers) the objective was to find the optimal production of those products, and the product portfolio, when minimizing the sum of production costs, or alternatively maximising amount of sales. The model is in line with traditional simplex procedure models with primal outcome. The production costs used in this exercise are based on a given technological constraints according to particular production functions of each product, taking into account advanced technologies available for meet processing. The model ought to be used by an anonymous Wholesale Trading Centre in Poreč as a decision-supporting tool.
