Nontoxic Organic Corrosion Inhibitors for Copper
The aim of this research is to investigate the inhibiting efficiency of nontoxic imidazole derivatives against atmospheric corrosion of copper. The inhibiting efficiency of 1-butyl-4-methylimidazole and 4-methyl-5-hydroxymethylimidazole was investigated and compared with the efficiency of commercial inhibitor for copper, Entec Plus Cu-106A. All results of this investigation (atmospheric corrosion tests, ESM examination as well as electrochemical measurements) show that the studied nontoxic imidazole derivatives have good inhibiting characteristics for atmospheric corrosion of copper.
