Influence of ATM ABR QoS Parameters on the Window- Time Flow Control Stability
In the future telecommunications networks of heterogeneous structure, the end-to-end flow control mechanisms will provide QoS and acceptable network utilization. One of the recently proposed algorithms is Window-Time Flow Control (WTFC) algorithm, with advantage of clear network model and combined window and rate control. In this paper, the stability of WTFC feedback loop is examined in a view of ATM ABR channel QoS parameters negotiated. The burst development mechanism is analyzed for conventional and partly for ABR channels. The advantage is given to simulation analysis. The simulation measurements are performed using the LBL NS-1.1 network simulator, extended with ATM VC links and WTFC sender. The analysis of simulation results has shown that optimal rate decrease factor depends on bandwidth-delay product for NRM generated RM cells, and that a constant RDF should be chosen when TRM generated RM cells are dominant.
