Comparison of five tuna plasma analytes measured on two automated blood analyzers
Plasma biochemistry parameters of 32 bluefin tuna were analyzed on two biochemical analyzers, VETTEST 8008 and Olympus AU2700. Results were compared and correlated. Statistically significant difference (P < 0.0001) was found for CHOL, TRIG, and AST analytes, unlike GLU and TP parameters (P = 0.383 and 0.188, respectively). GLU and TP analytes demonstrated almost identical trends and ranges. Coefficient of variation was high for most parameters on both analyzers. Overall, data obtained with both analyzers have the same clinical significance. In routine tuna blood investigations, due to relatively small numbers of available samples, it is more likely that the bench-top dry-slide analyzer would be preferred to a high volume primary analyzer
