Qualitative analytical relationships in laser beam welding data
Modelling of the laser beam welding is analytically solved for a thin section keyhole welding. Two extreme solutions for temperature distribution have been obtained from the Bessel function of the 2nd kind and zero order - for the low traverse speed as inverse logarithmic law and for the high traverse speed as exponential law. Thus, there always exists a potential break point in usual graph that describes the dependence of the welding speed and the weld depth for the whole spectrum of laser powers. By using qualitative modelling based on a circular information processing and on an evolutional algotithm a set of laser welding curves (of a 2kW laser with two types of beam polarization) has been tested according to its congruency. It was found that one of four curves was inappropriately approximated. A much better approximation has been proposed based on better curve data congruency. The obtained qualitative hyperbolic law reveals an interesting qualitative relation between the laser welding speed and the welding depth. By means of the proposed modelling method the discrepancies in measurement were also very visible and augmented.
