Geopolitical role of petroleum industry in creating sustainable business strategies of Central European oil companies

Fallowing the restructuring processes Central European oil companies have mostly been privatised during the past decade. The new problem arises in necessity of finding the right business strategy facing continuous geopolitical changes in the petroleum industry. Different business strategies of oil companies should be created considering the strong influence of different global issues. Small Central and Middle European oil companies will have difficulties in choosing the right strategy under mentioned circumstances. Future business strategies of Central European oil companies could result in integration between companies that could lead to strategic alliance capable for defending market position of wider region. The world primary energy consumption in this century furthermore will be mainly based on hydrocarbons. The geopolitical issues, on the other hand, become more and more significant. Oil possession or control over their market directions, for example, became a mean to political hegemony that could explain the development and relations, causes and effects of oil that have changed the world economy in the past and still impact the global market.
