Longitudinal Stress Distribution at Tooth-Root
Based upon the 3D FEM numerical model, the tooth stress field of spur gear was determined. Two gear geometrical parameters were varied through the research: the rim thickness and the facewidth. Furthermore, the gear size was considered by fewer and larger number of teeth. For the adopted uniform load distribution along the tooth facewidth, the obtained tooth-root stress results pointed to non-uniform longitudinal stress dostribution. It was found that among the gear geometrical parameters under consideration, the greatesr influence on the increment of edge effect and non-uiform longitudinal stress distribution, has the actual facewidth value and then the rim thickness.
