The immunological reactivity of mice stressed by overcrowding and treated with haloperidol
Overcrowding stimulated the immune response, and haloperidol apparently blocked this effect of stress. Non-stressed mice treated with haloperidol responded to sheep red blood cells somewhat better than non-stressed mice without the drug, but the difference is not statistically significant. The stress also increased the turnover of 5-HT, as evidenced by a significant increase of 5-HIAA concentration, but did not substantially change the concentrations of noradrenaline and dopamine.
Stress (overcrowding); Chronic haloperidol; Plaque-forming cells (PFC); brain monoamines
