Calculation of the equilibrium composition of the combustion gases
The problem set in this paper is to find the number of moles of all chemical species (compounds and free atoms) in the mixture at equilibrium at a given pressure, temperature and total number of moles of each of the elements in the initial mixture. In the consideration of chemical equilibrium the Gibbs function was introduced in calculating the equilibrium composition of ideal-gas mixtures using equilibrium-constants together with element conservation. On the example of combustion of light fuel oil in this paper is demonstrated how the above mentioned computer routines may be useful in combustion research.
