Precision of laser distance meter in electronic precision total station Leica TC2002
The precision of the laser distance meter in electronic precision total station Leica TC2002 (serial no. 437501) has been tested at the calibration baseline of the Faculty of Geodesy, University of Zagreb. The precision in measuring distances up to 100 m has been tested on 9 pillars, but also on 11 other pillars in measuring long distances, longer than 100 m. In measurements of short distances, very high precision of the measured distance has been obtained, in fact in one direction of one tenth of millimetre. The standard deviation of distance measurement in one direction at the distances from 100 m to 1000 m was less than 0.4 mm. While examining the distance meter precision, it has been noticed that a special attention has to be paid to the measurement of temperature and air pressure. After adjusting all distances measured at the calibration baseline, one has obtained the standard deviation of mean distance value resulting from measurement forwards and backwards ; at the distances up to 100 m the value of 0.06 mm, and at the distance of 900 m of 0.25 mm.
