Efficacy of Prazinon solution for injections against tapeworm Echinococcus granulosus in dogs

The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of Prazinon (praziquantel) injection solution against tapeworm Echinococcus granulosus in experimentally infected dogs. In order to infect, Beagles were orally administered approximately 40000 viable protoscolices originating from sheep cysts. Ten days after therapy all animals were sacrificed and gut contents were examined. According to obtained data the single treatment had 100% efficacy when the drug was administered at a dose of 5, 68 mg/kg. No side effects were observed after treatment.
