Form and geometry optimization of the drill for drilling sheet metal
With the purpose to minimizing sheet deformation, size of the burr and roughnes by drilling the sheet metal is desirable to use the twist drill with the circular edges. Because of inability of physical measurement of the edge geometry, the surface mathematical equations are derived of which intersection contains edge. According to the ISO standards geometry definition, the rake angle and clearance angle equations are derived, containing all the drill and sharpening parameters. Except for the sharpening geometry "measurement" , with the aid derived equations one can by computer optimize the sharpening parameters for the optimal cutting conditions i.e. optimize of tool (drill) manufacturing.
