Synthesis of biologically active 2, 4-diamino-5-benzylpyrimidine derivatives
The method of preparing biologically active derivatives of 2, 4-diamnio-5-benzylpyrimidines has been described, i.e. bacteriostatic trimethoprim and coccidiostatics diaveridine and ormethoprim. These compounds are prepared by catalytic hydrodehalogenation of their 6-chloroderivatives. Four synthetic pathways are shown which start from the corresponding derivatives of barbituric, 2-imino-, 4-imino- and 2, 4-diiminobarbituric acid and use acetylation, chlorination and ammonolysis reactions.
