EXPERIMENTAL DETERMINATION OF VOLUMETRIC EFFICIENCY OF HIGH-PRESSURE LOW - DISCHARGE RECIPROCATING PUMPS
Starting from the assumption that the volumetric efficiency of high-pressure reciprocating pumps with low theoretical discharge, for a certain fluid, depends on the pressure intensity, stroke length and piston velocity, the volumetric efficiency has been experimentally determined by varying the kinematic (stroke length and piston velocity) and hydrodynamic (pressure intensity in the delivery pipe) characteristics of the pump. A device for experimental study of the operation of the high-pressure reciprocating pumps with a system for measuring and processing the measuring signals has been developed. A total of 40 measurements with various operating pressure intensity and different stroke lengths have been performed. The discharge, stroke lengths and pressures at relevant points of the pump-pipeline system have been measured. The results of experimental determination of the volumetric efficiency are presented in the form of diagrams and tables and they confirm the assumptions made by the authors about the influence of the pressure intensity, stroke length and piston velocity on the volumetric efficiency in high-pressure low-discharge reciprocating pumps.
