Polycystic disease of kidneys and liver in a Persian cat - case report
Polycystic kidney disease is a disorder characterized by displacement of a significant part of renal parenchyma by numeorous cysts of various sizes. In this paper a case of polycistic kidney disease in 4-year-old male Persian cat is described. Clinically, uraemia was pronouced and both kidneys were enlarged and had an irregular surface. X-rays confirmed renomegaly. because of the uraemia and deterioration in the condition of patient, the owner requested euthanasia. Post-mortem examination revealed polycystic kidney disease, and discrete cysts in licer parenchyma were also noted. Histological exemination confirmed the diagnosis and morphology of cysts was also described. This paper also presents an overview of recent publications refering to polycystic kidney disease in cat.
