The Horizontal Software Technology Transfer-Case: Cosolidation of AXE 10 Software Development
In a multinational industry, telecommunicaton software development, there is an increasing need to transfer technology from one part of the organisation (that may be in another country or subsidiary) to another. This is to utilise the benefits of the rapid changing technology and to enable smooth transition of personnel into new areas of work. By making the Technology Transfer in a controlled way, effective and rapid reorganisation of activities under new organisational structure is possible. Through Technology Transfer such items that define the organisations capability as competence, organisational roles, interfaces and processes, design and test infrastructure can be improved to a needed level. This paper discusses software Technology Transfer both from theoretical point of view and based on experiences from software Technology Transfer projects where Ericsson Nikola Tesla has been involved. This paper concentrates on horizontal Technology Transfer, where technology has been already adopted and used by the sneder that then actively participates in the transfer process to make the technology work at the receiver.
