Hypermedia Aesthetics and Design Education: Visual Analysis as an Act of Re-Cognition
Design education is presented through visual analysis of historical art periods. This analysis is supposed to create a framework for seeing and understanding the conteporary cultural environment. The goal of analysis is to refine student's visual culture throug an act of re-cognition accompished by means of student's imaginative projection into particular art period. Projection by means of which he/she can gain an understanding of his/her own position in the "fragmented whole". By allowing meaning to represent itself through familiar motives metaphores and symbols, students develop their own intuition and gradually break throug the culturally established time-space paradigms.
