Antifugal and antimycotoxigenic properties of newly synthesized derivatives of tetraketone
The effect of newly synthesized derivative of 5-aryl-5-hydroxy-2/aryl-(hydroxyimino)methyl-4-1(hydroxyimino)ethyl-1-cyclohexanone, on growt and zearalenone (ZEA) accumulation by toxigenic mold Fusarium gramineraum ZMPBF 1244 was studied in yeast extract-sucrose (YES) medium to determine the possible use of this compound as a mean of controlling ZEA accumualtion. Experiments were carried out in a stationary culture at temperatures of 10 and 25 C, respectively, with and without "temperature shock" for 25 days. Mycelial dry weights were determined gravimetrically, and concentrations of ZEA were measured fluorodensitometrically using a "Camag" TLC Scanner. In experiments with a "temperature shock", concentration of investigated derivative higher than 15.0 micrograms/ml of liquid medium completely inhibited growth and ZEA accumulation after 25 days of incubation at temperatures of 10 and 25 C. Concentrations of 5.0 micrograms/ml and 10.0 micrograms/ml partialy inhibted growth and decreased ZEA accumulation by 52% and 95 %, respectively. Inhibition was depending on the time and temperature of cultivation.
