Marketing Decisions : Transitional Economies Perspective
The authors of this paper discuss the prerequisites of a successful economy transformation in the transition countries. The paper is based on the assumption that a successful transformation of economy can be achieved by a faster and more efficient privatization of state-owned firms, by establishing sector of SMEs and by development of entrepreneurial spirit connected to inventiveness and creativity. In addition to privatization and entrepreneurship, the authors believe that changes should take place on the level of firms as well. Regarding that, the results of a longitudinal field research (1997-2002) on the example of Croatian economy were analyzed. It was found that an appropriate information basis is necessary for innovation and development of economic subjects.
