Stroke mortality in the croatian city of Rijeka in 1990.
In the population of Rijeka (Croatia) stroke is at a high second place on the lethality list. With a rate of 88/100, 000 inhabitants of both sexes in 1990, it was right behind malignant diseases. The population of a Croatian city of Rijeka is characterized by a greater lethality in woman than in men. The greatest lethality was recorded in patients with cerebral hemorrhage (45.5/100 cerebrovascular disease patients), and lower in patients with cerebral embolism and thrombosis (32.6/100 cerebrovascular disease patients). These results of descriptive neuroepidemiologic analysis precede a more detailed analytical study of stroke lethality in Rijeka and it's subregion.
