Historical Garden Area Pile and Kono in Dubrovnik : Open spaces through historical development : Research
From the summary of historical development we can see that the area of Pile and Kono changed during centuries from medieval agricultural, suburban leisure area to urban space grown into the gardens. As the area is not researched, except for several older gardens, the task of this research project is to survey sistematically and register all gardens, forecourts, yards and similar spaces, to make identification data for each garden, and to record everything important for their formative base such as gardenarchitectural structure, found formative elements, equipment, vegetation and other values. Researched material is in course of classifying. When it is completed, it will serve as the basic document dedicated to preserving gardens and other open spaces, and also will be used in urban planning and regulating Pile and Kono area, very exposed area of the historical city of Dubrovnik in the far south of the Republic of Croatia.
