Sensitivity Analysis Taking into Consideration the Lowest Energy Cost from a Combined System of Consumptional Water Heating

Consumptional water heating for tourist facilities and domestic use is a significant energy consumer. It is advisable to use solar energy for this purpose, especially in coastal regions. The combined system for consumptional water heating in tourist facilities is chosen using a developed simple procedure, based on average monthly solar radiation and temperature data. The optimal system configuration depends on consumptional dynamics, solar radiation and the type of auxiliary heating system, as well as prices of energy and equipment. The system consists of solar collectors combined with either electric heater, oil fired boiler or heat pump. Software has been developed to perform a selection of optimal systems and sensitivity analysis. The paper presents a sensitivity analysis regarding the influence of changes in equipment, service and energy costs incurred due to changes in the inflation rate, interest rate and considered period on the selected optimal combined system. This analysis points out the permitted deviations in solar equipment investment costs to keep the solar system still optimal when compared with other systems. A heat pump system is shown to be the most convenient compared to other consumptional water heating systems. The presented analysis enables decision making during the system operation period as well as during project development.
