Sažetak
In order to identify feasibility for waste reduction, the methodology of the cleaner production approach has been applied in the printing ink industry. Screening of the complete company operations was conducted during the first phase. Basic process diagrams were made for each production line, as well as for the production as a whole. Waste streams and waste handling (management) procedures were analyzed for each waste stream from the place of origin to the end of the cycle. Special attention was focused on the water and solvent cycle regarding consumption, use, re-use and discharge. Simple waste reduction and prevention measures were recommended. Liquid waste, from the major problems, functional deficiencies with existing treatment equipment. Initial attempts have been undertaken to fully characterize the waste streams and investigate different waste treatment methods.
