The influence of age at conception and genotype on fertility of primiparous sows.
The aim of the research was to establish the influence of age and genotype of gilts on the fertility of primiparous sows. The research is based on the use of data related to fertility of primiparous sows on pig farm with a capacity of 2500 sows. The analysis covered 4500 litters of the following genotypes of primiparous sows: Swedish and German Landrace, F1 Swedish Landrace x Large White and F1 German Landrace x Large White. Primiparous sows were divided into five groups according to their age at conceptions. The difference between groups was 20 days. The number of liveborn piglets by the above listed genotypes was: 9.23, 9.11, 9.52 and 9.21 (P< 0.05). Differences observed in the number of reared piglets and litter weights on day 21 were insignificant. Differences in the number of liveborn piglets, reared piglets and the litter weights between the primiparous sows, which conceived up to day 200 and above day 260, were 1.01 and 0.91 piglets and 4.72 kg (P<0.05). The range of average deviations among different combinations of crossing in relation to purebreds in the number of liveborn piglets was from - 0.03 (P>0.05) to 0.27 (P<0.05) ; in the number of reared piglets from - 0.04 (P>0.05) to 0.31 (P<0.05), and in the litter weight from - 0.28 (P>0.05) to 2.11 kg (P<0.05).
